IMO DEPUTY GOVERNOR ADMONISHES THE PUBLIC ON POOR CITIZENS

...BECOMES LIFE PATRON TO MEDICAL STUDENTS

Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on the public to make sacrifices to ensure that they assist the poor in the society.

Imo Deputy Governor made this remark last weekend while receiving in audience a group under the aegis of Imo State University Medical Students’ Association led by Comrade Ugochukwu Emeka-Mandela when they paid him a courtesy visit in his office, Government House, Owerri.

He reminded the students that Owelle Rochas Okorocha Government is founded on noble orientation of uplifting the living standard of the poor and to also mobilize them to greatness through people oriented policies and programmes.

Prince Madumere who stated that service to humanity is a promise he made to God from the onset told the students that the rescue mission government has placed much importance on the students and youths.

His words, “my leader, the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha believes that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow, he introduced free education policy in the State from primary to the university level. This alone can change the tide of every family if the students are determined, focused and diligent.

He described medical studies as noble and its vocation of saving lives as the highest service anyone can render to humanity. He therefore called on the students to be studious and shun all forms of social vices and promised to continue to identify with the students. “…Because of Governor Okorocha’s premium on health of the people, he has built 27 state-of-the-art general hospitals in the 27 local government areas of Imo State, his effort in ensuring that Imo State University Teaching Hospital is functional and well equipped,” he enthused.

Earlier in his remarks, the President of the association, Mr. Mandela Ukaegbu said that the members of the association have noted with pride the numerous contributions of the Deputy Governor in the promotion of health in the people.

Mr Ukaegbu enumerated some of the outstanding contributions of the Deputy Governor in saving lives, such as consistent periodic visits to hospitals, offsetting of medical bills of some indigent patients in various hospitals, sponsorship for indigent medical students among others.

While hailing the number two citizen on his feats in ensuring that Red Cross Society functions optimally in saving lives, hey commended him for saving the life of a tanker driver who was sustained a bullet wound during a recent unfortunate clash between the Tanker drivers Association and one security agency.

The high point of the occasion was the decoration of Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere as the “Life Patron of the Imo State University Medical Students’ Association.

Receiving the award in his office, the Deputy Governor thanked the students for appreciating his little efforts in the service of God and humanity; saying is a great encouragement to him to do more.
