Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Rivers South East Senatorial District in the legislative re-run election, has commended the Obolo nation for their support for APC and the decamping of Hon. Sylvanus Kingston from PDP to APC.

Speaking at a rally at Ngo town in Andoni Local Government Area, Abe said it was a thing of joy that the Andoni people have realized that the path to the development of Andoni could properly be attained through the APC.

He said initially why many people in Rivers State were in PDP was because of giving solidarity to former President Goodluck Jonathan but when the project failed a lot of Rivers people thought aloud that the best option was to be in APC.

The former Secretary to Rivers State Government said those of them in APC would not bear any grudges against them rather would be willing at all times to receive them so that together they would move Rivers state forward.

“I want to say clearly that no man is upset with any of our people who went to PDP. We know why people went to PDP. People did not go to PDP because of Wike. They did not go to PDP because they wanted to perpetuate Ikwerre governorship in Rivers state. People went to PDP because they felt that we should not abandon Jonathan who was our son and those of us who know the importance of development in politics, felt that every politician is entitled to the vote of 'you are our own'. And we gave Jonathan that one in 2011.

If we have given you the vote of 'you are our son', when you come back next time, don't come and tell us that you are our son because we already know you are our son. When you come back next time, you should tell us what you have done for us. So, when he came back and wanted to go again, and he had nothing to show us that he had done for us, we asked him what did you do with the vote of 'you are our son' we gave you before.

We told him to come and tell us how Niger Delta and Rivers state were developed; what is happening to all the oil wells in Rivers state; what is happening to our airport, waterways, clean up of our land, things that are important to Rivers people.

In all those things, our brother could not report properly and so, we under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, decided to put the interest of Rivers state above that of politics because we had already done it. Some of our brothers disagreed with us and they decided to go and support him. They went on that enterprise and the enterprise failed”.

Abe commended Hon. Kingston for taking a wise decision to jump boat and assured him and other decampees that all the rights accruing to members of the party would be extended to them.

He also used the opportunity to advise Engr. Tele Ikuru, the former deputy governor of Rivers State to make haste and return to APC, pointing out that he would have nothing to benefit from PDP as Wike's government is a one-man show.

“We know that Engr. Tele Ikuru is uncomfortable where he is because the PDP government of Nyesom Wike is a one man show. Nobody is involved, nobody knows what is happening. He is the contractor, commissioner and emperor of the place. There is no room for Tele in that arrangement and those of you, who are following him, tell him we know that he washed his hands. We will wash his feet and take him back”.
