The leadership of the Coalition of Muslim Organizations, Ghana (COMOG) wishes to call on all Ghanaians, especially the key political stakeholders to remain calm as we await the final declaration of the 2016 Presidential Results.

Indeed COMOG has taken note of the anxiety and tension building up amongst a section of the Ghanaian society as a result of the delay in the declaration of the Presidential Results.

Whilst not dictating to the Electoral Commission on what it should do, COMOG wishes to add its voice to that of individuals and institutions calling on the Electoral Commission to quicken the process of verifying and certifying the results for release so as to take care of the anxiety in the country.

Indeed the long silence of the Electoral Commission in declaring the results is creating a lot of tension and suspicion in the country.

We also wish to appeal to the two major political parties, the NPP and NDC to restrain their supporters from doing anything that would jeopardize the peace and stability of the country

COMOG wishes to thank Ghanaians for the peaceful manner with which they went about the voting process. We hope they will continue to exercise patience as the Electoral Commission goes about with the declaration of the results.
