We’ll Never Allow Something Like Boko Haram Happen Again – Ndume

SAN FRANCISCO, December 03, The majority leader of the Senate, Senator Ali Ndume has stated that the people from Boko Haram-affected areas have learned an unforgettable lesson, realised their mistakes and will never allowed such to happen again.

Speaking with NAN in Yola on Saturday, Ndume said that affected communities who were forced to leave their villages and towns were now anxious to return home and were ready to fight back.

Ndume was in Yola to visit thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), mostly from Gwoza and other local government areas from Borno, who were in camps on the outskirts of Yola.

“We have suffered a lot and our people have learned a lesson from this ungodly crisis. We will never allow such barbaric act to happen again, our eyes are open now,” he said.

“Our people are ready to fight back now to reclaim the remaining of their villages and towns, as well as their freedom of living with one another in peace and dignity.”

He said that the lasting solution to the insurgency was to take the fight to their hideouts and wipe them out.

He explained that most of the IDPs he visited in Adamawa were willing and anxious to return to their respective ancestral homes.

He said that relief materials worth millions of naira were distributed to the IDP's, adding that the visit was with a team of top officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

On the rejection of about $30bn presidential loan, he said that the senate did not reject the loan but wanted the executive arm to attach all necessary documents to enable the Red Chamber go through and approve.

On the ongoing fight against corruption, he said: “I am confident that, at the end, President Muhammadu Buhari and the country are going to win the war against corruption.”
