SAN FRANCISCO, November 14, (THEWILL) – Mr. Dele Ologun, who sponsored the 400 loaves of bread customised for the campaign of the APC candidate in the Ondo governorship election, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has condemned criticisms in the social media to what he described as his “kind gesture” towards the Akeredolu Campaign.

Few days ago, Ologun distributed the customized bread to All Progressives Congress, APC, members in Akure ward 1 in Akure North Local Government Area of the state and had donated two buses to Akeredolu to aide his campaigns.

Responding to those using the social media to condemn the bread he donated for Akeredolu’s campaign, Ologun said, “The most important thing that we can do is do whatever it takes for our candidate to win.

“My interest is about our candidate. Immediately I saw the bread online I was mad. Like what nonsense is this? Why, people?” he uttered frustratingly.

“Some people have branded water, which is vital, what is the big deal in putting the name and face your candidate everywhere?” Ologun queried.

He went on to tell newsmen that a total of 400 loaves were made specifically for Ward 1 in Akure North LGA which have since been distributed for consumption.

Before now, Ologun had placed about five billboards along the Ogbese-Owo road in support of Akeredolu.

Some APC supporters see the taunting of Aketi Bread Images on social media as a desperate attempt by the opposition to destroy Akeredolu, while those in the opposition are capitalizing on same to get back at the APC for condemning Ayo Fayose who embarked on “stomach infrastructure” during his campaign for Ekiti governorship in June 2014.

A member of the APC, Ayo Olasoji, maintained that such a gesture is allowed in politics and therefore shouldn’t be politicized, saying, “What’s the big deal in trying to ameliorate the suffering of the people? Aren’t you aware that civil servants in Ondo State are being owed 7 months salaries?

“Aren’t you aware of the recession in the country? Why condemning someone that ought to be praised? This is an attempt to paint Akeredolu as a desperate man and we won’t allow that,” Olasoji added.

But for a PDP supporter, Richard Akinpelumi, it is hypocritical for the APC to indulge in what it had earlier condemned.

In a Facebook post, Akinpelumi lampooned supporters of APC for engaging in stomach infrastructure, a policy they had berated Governor Fayose for.

“They distributed Akara (beans cake) in Edo. Now, it is bread in Ondo. This hypocrisy is legendary and I urge Ondo electorates to beware,” Akinpelumi wrote.
