2018 World Cup Qualifier: Nigeria Defeat Algeria 3-1

SAN FRANCISCO, November 12, (THEWILL)- Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday defeated visiting Desert Foxes of Algeria 3-1 in a 2018 World Cup qualifier played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital.

Chelsea's utility player, Victor Moses opened scoring in the first half, after the ball got to him inside the box. His Chelsea team-mate and skipper of the Eagles, John Mikel Obi, made it 2-0 before the break.

Nabil Bentaleb pulled one back for Algeria with a screaming strike that left Daniel Akpeyi stranded, before Moses finished off a quick counter-attack late in the game.

Saturday’s win places Nigeria on top of Group B with six points; Cameroon are second with two points after two draws while Zambia and Algeria stay at third and fourth respectively with one point each.
