SAN FRANCISCO, November 10, (THEWILL) – A parcel, suspected to be an Improvised Explosives Device (IED), was found under the Jabi bridge, near Shoprite shopping mall, Abuja.

Policemen, including operatives of the Anti-bomb squad, blocked the access road to the bridge, and were seen directing motorists to take alternative routes.

The anti-bomb squad were seen circumspectly searching the vicinity and sniffing for explosives as residents scampered for safety and the vicinity was almost deserted.

THEWILL gathered that residents and business owners fled the area as they also spread text and messages on social media warning friends and relatives to avoid the area.

A police source however told THEWILL that there was no cause for alarm that residents were free to go about their normal duties.

“People should go about their duties without apprehension but always report any suspicious movement in their vicinities to the nearest police station,” he said.

“The location is rendered safe. Security in the area and all other locations in the FCT has been beefed up.”
