It's Not Your Battle (1)

One of the things that should be expected to be constant in the life of a Christian; as soon as he or she makes the decision of following Christ is to go into conflict with the forces of the enemy, who will go any length to see that God's will does not come to pass in their life. But this position should not make us afraid; rather it should awaken us to the immeasurable divine arsenal at our disposal. No doubt, our God, the God of Israel is a mighty man of war. He is a God of war and has never gone to battle and lost.

With the above disposition, every child of God is expected to win every battle that comes their way. Sure, battles will come, but your disposition before the battle and your actions during the crisis will determine whether it will end in your favor or not. God's will is that we emerge from every battle of life victorious, stronger and more dedicated. Our emerging victorious from the battles of life is also our best form of testimony. The world may not just want to hear about our God, but wants to see His mighty works and power before they believe.

So, let's briefly see one of the instances where God displayed His ability to deliver His people from the hands of their enemies. Please, go to 2 chronicles 20:1-6, " After this, the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat. Messengers came and told Jehoshaphat, 'A vast army from Edom is marching against you from beyond the Dead sea.

They are already at Hazazon- tamar; (This was another name for Engedi). Jehoshaphat was alarmed by this news and sought the LORD for guidance. He also gave orders that everyone throughout Judah should observe a fast. So people from all the towns of Judah came to Jerusalem to seek the LORD. Jehoshaphat stood before the people of Judah and Jerusalem in front of the new courtyard at the Temple of the LORD. He prayed, 'O LORD, God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. You are the ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you."

I believe you followed the above story very well. There's no better record of where God displayed His faithfulness towards His promise to fight for His people. First, I want us to look at the background of king Jehoshaphat; who was the king of Judah at this very trying point of their history. King Jehoshaphat was a man that had tremendous respect for God. He made sure he led Judah according to the laws of God. He was a man that believed in righteousness and never failed to consult God any time himself or his nation had crises or battles to face. He so much trusted the power of God of Israel to save and deliver His people. Just check out the testimony of the bible about him, " The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father's early years and did not worship the images of Baal. He sought his father's God and obeyed his commands instead of following the practices of the kingdom of Israel (that is idolatry). So, the LORD established Jehoshaphat's control over the kingdom of Judah. All the people of Judah brought gifts to Jehoshaphat, so he became very wealthy and highly esteemed. He was committed to the ways of the LORD."

This was the background of the king of Judah at the time they got the message that three nations- Moabites, Ammonites and Meunites were marching against Judah. I started here because I want you to know that one's spiritual disposition or relationship with God before facing the battles of life go along way to determine the out come of such battles.

When we follow God faithfully, we will be preparing ourselves for the days of battles. Like I said early, the battles must come. They are part of life. But we must be determined to come out of every battle victorious, we must learn how to follow divine principles to conquer our enemies, and consequently fulfill our destinies. And bring glory to the name of our God -Jehovah.

So, king Jehoshaphat spiritually prepared himself and the people of Judah for battle they were going to face as a nation. They were going to face a vast and formidable army from three nations. And to make the matter worse, these enemies were determined and were already marching towards Judah. As you're reading this write up, I don't know what kind of enemy you're facing right now. They could be coming against your life, against your marriage, Job, finances, against your health or ministry. I want to assure you that your season of deliverance has come.
