BEVERLY HILLS, October 19, (THEWILL) – Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has explained that his reported intervention in the midnight raid on the house of a judge in the state was not geared towards stopping the Department of State Services, DSS, from arresting the judge, but to ensure that the right process was followed.

Operatives of the DSS and the Police were said to have threatened to shoot Wike in the wee hours of October 8, 2016 for mobilising his supporters to stop an alleged abduction attempt of a Judge http://thewillnigeria.com/news/police-dss-threaten-wike-for-interfering-in-alleged-attempt-to-abduct-judge/ at his number 35/84 B residence, Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt.

But speaking on Tuesday at Government House, Port Harcourt, when he granted audience to the leadership of Non-Indigenes Without Borders, chaired by Mr Emeka Onowu, the governor stated that deliberate efforts being made by agents of the federal government to stagnate development in Rivers State will not succeed.

“We have a sad situation where everything is being done at the federal level to kill the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. However, in the end, it is their own political party that will die,” he said.

Wike declared that the Federal Government was working relentlessly to kill the PDP, stressing however that it was the party that controls the Federal Government that will die politically in the long run.

Claiming that there are repeated plots to rig the forthcoming re-run election in Rivers State, he averred that nobody would be allowed to steal the mandate of Rivers people, no matter the deployment of security agencies.

“They are repeatedly shifting the date of the re-run election, so that they can have a convenient time to rig. Nobody should be scared of their plan to use DSS and police to rig the re-run election.

“The policeman that is carrying gun, how many people can he kill? In Turkey where they resisted the Army, are they not human beings? Nobody will circumvent the mandate of Rivers people,” Wike said.

He observed that, as an opposition state, the people of Rivers State were aware that they will have battles for survival from those who control the federal level.
