The closely fought election holds today across the state today after it was suddeny put off by the Independent National Electoral Commission on the advise of security agencies in the state.

The suspension of the election was heavily critised as being the handiwork of the All Progressives Congress who was jittery based on ominous signs of defeat.

According to Madu, the Defence Corps comprised fifteen thousand armed and unarmed officers and additional two hundred and fifty special squad drawn from the specialised units of the corps.

The DCGO  said the specialised units include Special Weapon and Tactics, Kernel, Counter Terrorism and Undercover.

He said the officers would work in synergy with other security agencies to ensure a free, fair and credible election.

Mr Madu appealed to the people of the state to ensure that they sustain the peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the election.
