Presidential Quarterly Business Forum Holds On Monday In Aso Rock

SAN FRANCISCO, September 16, (THEWILL) – The Presidency would on Monday, September 19, at the old Presidential Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abuja, commence the Presidential Quarterly Business Forum with members of the Organised Private Sector, OPS and other stakeholders.

A statement by Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, revealed that the forum would be attended by members of President Muhammadu Buhari's Economic Management Team (EMT) led by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

The forum is part of efforts by the Federal Government to continually engage regularly with different segments of the Nigerian public on its economic policies and direction.

THEWILL recalls that the EMT recently held a consultative forum with a team of economic and financial experts across the country.

The meeting was meant to enable the team engage the experts on how to address the challenges facing the country's economy, which is currently in recession.

Experts who attended the four-hour special meeting included Mr. Bismarck Rewane, Mr. Bode Augusto, Prof. Akpan Ekpo, Dr. Ayo Teriba and Prof. Badayi Sani.

At the meeting presided over by the Vice President, suggestions on how best to reflate the economy, bring it out of recession and promptly restore growth featured prominently on the agenda.

Issues discussed at the meeting included the review of the new foreign exchange regime and its effect on the economy as well as the draft Medium Term Economic Framework for 2017-2019.

Osinbajo later revealed that the government will continue to engage with experts and other stakeholders “so that we can measure the progress of the economic policies that have been put in place.”
