Pathfinder International Seeks Collaboration On Efficient And Affordable Reproductive And Maternal Healthcare Service To Nigerlites
Pathfinder International is an International non-governmental organization specialized in implementing projects in reproductive health, adjudged to be a global leader in reproductive health, the organisation has indicated it's interest to support Niger State Government’s through an holistic health reform agenda for which will provide for an affordable and qualitative healthcare services for Nigerlites.
The NGO, Pathfinder International that has been in the forefront of implementing integrated maternal health, family planning and HIV/AIDS projects in Nigeria for over 50 years. It is at the moment rolling out a new project tagged “In-service operationalization of the MNH component of Nigeria’s task-sharing policy for essential Health Care Services” funded by the MacArthur Foundation, which will provide technical assistance to the state government in areas of operationalisation action of the 2014 task-sharing policy.
The project will seeks to overcome the severe shortage of skilled maternal health service providers by supporting operationalization of the national task-shifting/task-sharing policy for essential healthcare services in which the Federal Ministry of Health outlines the need and strategy for training community health extension workers (CHEWS) to provide reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) services, including basic emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC).
On his part, the Niger State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Mustapha Jibril thanked the management of Pathfinder International for finding Niger State worthy of such invaluable service while assuring them of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s will provide all the necessary support, commitment and cooperation with partners across all levels of healthcare units in the State, to ensure the project is a success in the state.
Dr. Jibril added that, the critical and timely intervention coincides with one of the key components of the NIGER HEALTH REFORM AGENDA 1.0 under the service-driven administration of Mr. Governor, Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Sani Bello.
