Chinese Authorities Pencil Anambra State For Massive Investment Inflow...As Gov. Obiano's Visit To China Opens New Vista
"Do not despise the days of little beginning," is a strong admonition from the Holy Book. To some, the visit to China by the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano alongside some select-governors from Nigeria might pass for mere rollercoaster-ride that brings nothing in return save the cargo with which it took off. But fortuitously, a new vista may have been opened for Anambra State following the visit.
Perhaps, as a result of the attractive presentations made by the Anambra delegation, a horizon was struck for Anambra State in that far-flung Asian country. It may not be said in hushed tones as it has not gotten to as much ears, but feelers filtering in from Xi Jinping's country have it that the Chinese authorities have asked their citizens to invest more in Anambra State on a gigantic scale than any other state or region in Nigeria.
Their reason being; security, investors friendly environment/policy-trust, availability of needed man power/raw materials and sincerity of purpose on the part of the Chief Executive Officer of the state. A China based Nigerian shoe manufacturer, who is also a member of ANRIC, Association of Nigerian Residents in China, Igwe Ikenna Mesiobi said this of the Chinese authorities; "They know that Anambra has good security and has the same business idea like them, you know this people (Chinese) have their ears on the ground and they know what obtains where.
I heard their authorities have told them to invest in Anambra State more than any other city in Nigeria now." When asked what in his view Gov. Willie Obiano's visit to China would bring to Anambra State, he said; "It depends on what the discussion is, because it is a closed door meeting but what was written in the office of the meeting is construction of roads and bridges which is ok but if he can add in facilities that are needed for electricity generation and economic-stimulation it will be boom because Anambra State is favoured already by the authorities.
They have records of those coming to do business here from Africa and Nigeria in particular and most passports data bear origin-Anambra; those who come here for business weekly. And for the Governor of that state to come visiting on business/investment drive with such mouthwatering proposals, he's sure to have the ears of the Chinese for they think-business as much as we do back home in Anambra."
Given the above assertion, it implies that in a matter of months maybe weeks, Anambra State and indeed the South-East region will behold the fruits of Gov. Willie Obiano's visit to China as he did not only make case for Anambra State but also for investment in infrastructures that are at the heart of South East economic growth and advancement. A noiseless and unassuming visit that is to churn-out astonishing infrastructural leap for the South East, you would say!!!..................................................
