Cracks In Avengers As Breakaway Group Threatens To Expose Sponsors

The ranks of the rampaging Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, is beginning to

fracture, but the group has denied such cracks.
Sources reaffirmed that members were becoming uncomfortable with

happenings in the region and the further alienation of the group from the

peace talks with Abuja.
Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, recently alluded to the fact that

the federal government would not engage the deadly group in any parley

when he described them as fighting for their pockets.

A group, Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, RNDA, which broke out of the Niger

Delta Avengers, NDA, on Friday, has insisted that it would expose the

identities of Avengers and those bankrolling them if the group does not

stop the destruction of pipelines.
But allegations are still making the rounds that the embattled ex-warlord,

High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo and a few people in

government were the key sponsors of the group.
RNDA in a statement by Cynthia Whyte, said it deserted the NDA because of

the recent personal appeal of former President Goodluck Jonathan, peace

efforts of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND,

guilt feelings over the damage wrecked on the environment and President

Muhammadu Buhari's demonstrated political will to clean up the

environment.
“We have decided to join the MEND Aaron Team 2 peace initiative through

the clearing house of Niger Delta Dialogue and Contact Group (NDDCG)

headed by HRH King Alfred Diette-Spiff.
“We will also cooperate with the government by exposing the identities of

our comrades, who remain stubborn in their insistence to continue attacks.

For example, it will shock the nation to know the Jekyll and Hyde

personality behind the pseudonym 'Brigadier General Murdoch Agbinibo' and

our sponsors.”
