APC directs Jibrin to stop media war on budget padding

By The Citizen

In its quest to arrest the situation in the lower house of the National Assembly on the allegation of budget padding, the National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to the whistle blower, Hon. Abdulmumuni Jibrin to stop speaking to both conventional and non conventional media on the issue.

The appeal came from the letter sent to Jibrin, former House Chairman Appropriation Committee, by APC Deputy National Chairman, South, Senator Lawal Shuiabu.

According to Shuaibu in the letter, the party leadership is looking into the allegation after the meeting with him (Jibrin) on Tuesday.

Also Shuaibu stated that the party was being embarrassed with the incessant reports of the budget padding in the media.

Shuaibu said: 'As you are aware, the party, and indeed the government, has not been happy over the recent development in the house of representatives over the issue of the 2016 budget. We found it embarrassing to have to deal with another new phenomenon you tagged 'budget padding'.

'Arising from the series of meetings we held with you over the subject matter, the national working committee had decided to request you to henceforth avoid issuing any public statement on this matter. This includes statements through social media or other means of transmitting an opinion on the matter to the public, as the party is now looking into it towards finding possible solution.'

Since Jibrin made the ‎allegation of Budget Padding against the Speaker, House of Representatives Hon. Yakubu Dogara and three other leaders of the house it has become a topical issue. - New Telegraph.
