By Abdul Majeed

On the Holy occasion of Eid-ul Fitr, Former Nigerian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ambassador Dauda Danladi, mni has extended heartiest felicitations to His Excellency Mamnoon Hussain, President of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan and the good people of Pakistan.

In a congratulatory letter to His Excellency Mamnoon Hussain, President of Pakistan, Former Nigerian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ambassador Dauda Danladi, mni said, “ Pakistan is my second home and I personally extend Eid Greetings and warmest wishes to your Excellency President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain and pray that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Nigeria will continue to proper in the days to come”.

In another letter to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif Ambassador Dauda Danladi, mni said “ On this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul Fitr, I personally congratulate Mian Nawaz Sharif and Pakistani Nation. Since the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Nigeria have entered a new era of economic diplomacy, the business community from Pakistan and Nigeria should come forward to further strengthen trade linkages in future”.

Ambassador Dauda Danladi, mni during his Diplomatic Assignment in Pakistan (2012-2015) attracted a great number of Pakistani Investors and Industrialists from Punjab and Sindh Provinces who are currently working in Nigeria to establish Rice Processing Plants, Fertilizers, Agricultural Machinery like Production of Tractors, Pharmaceutical products and Textile garments. All these measures resulted in significant enhancement of the Trade Volume between Nigeria and Pakistan from US $ 80 Million to US $ 500 Million.

Ambassador Dauda Danladi, mni’s contribution to further strengthened Defense and Military cooperation between Pakistan and Nigeria cannot be ignored. Ambassador Danladi has left an indelible mark in the anal history of Nigeria-Pakistan Diplomatic Relations. He has broken the jinx for being the first Nigerian Envoy to mobilize a Pakistani President, His Excellency President Mamnoon Hussain along with 70 member trade delegation in 2014.

Ambassador Danladi’s endeavors resulted in exchange of visits of Service Chiefs and top Military Officials from Nigeria who visited Pakistan Defense related Industries such as Pakistan Ordinance Factories, Wah, Pakistan Air Force Academy, Risalpur, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra and National Defense University, Islamabad. Likewise, top Pakistan Air Force Chiefs have visited Nigerian Air Force Headquarters based in Abuja to further strengthen military training and transfer of defense equipment and technologies which will mutually benefit both the countries. It is therefore very encouraging when the Nigeria Air force is making arrangement to induct the GF17 Thunder Aircraft and the Super Mushak trainer aircraft into their inventory before the end of 2016. All these achievements is a clear testimony of the hard work of Ambassador Dauda Danladi.

Pakistan and Nigeria must strive hard to further promote military ties for global peace and security as “Extremism has marred human values; it has created dislocations ; it is destroying the fabric of humanity, therefore, it is a common challenge; it can only be fought when we all come together irrespective of our civilization, history, ideologies, or religious inclinations to fight the menace of terrorism in the world.

Federal Republic of Nigeria and Pakistan have the capability to jointly develop Nigeria's local Defense industries. This will help in conserving the meager foreign exchange of developing countries that could be channeled for social development.

Top Nigerian Military and Air Force Officers are currently undergoing training in various Pakistani Defense Institutions and the credit of all this goes to the personal Diplomatic efforts of Former Nigerian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ambassador Dauda Danladi, mni.
