Economy: Fed Govt approves Commission for Ease of Doing Business

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the constitution of a presidential commission for ease of doing business, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has said.

‎A statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the Senior Special Assistant to the the Vice President, Mr Laolu Akande, said his boss announced this while presiding over the first quarterly consultation between the presidency and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, last Friday.

'Buhari has approved a high-powered commission to work on the issues around the ease of doing business in the country,' ‎he added.

Osinbajo said the commission would have a secretariat to be headed by a private sector professional, who would be appointed to lead the secretariat of the commission.

He said ‎ MAN raised, among many concerns, their worries about cases of multiple taxation, and in response, the Vice President promised to follow up on the matter, adding: 'One of the key issues the presidential commission which I am heading would be looking at is the case of multiple taxation.'

He said the Ministry of Trade and Investment was also actively engaged with the same issue. - Thisday.
