Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with the “Groupe International de Soutien à Madagascar” (GIS-M)

The Secretary-General met today with the “Groupe international de soutien à Madagascar”. They discussed the political and human rights situations and the multifaceted challenges facing Madagascar.

The Secretary-General commended the role of the “Groupe international de soutien à Madagascar” and underscored the necessity for the international community to speak with one voice.

The Secretary-General mentioned the importance to support national reconciliation, political stability and youth and women empowerment. He also indicated that the international community should help in the holding of peaceful and credible elections in 2018.
