Workers Day: Obaseki Restates Commitment To Edo Workers Welfare

By Ben Atu

As workers all over the nation celebrate workers day, today Monday (tomorrow) the Chairman of the Edo State Economic and Strategic Team and frontline APC governorship aspirant Mr. Godwin Obaseki has assure the Edo State workers of better days ahead of them soon as he emerge as the next governor of the state. Obaseki who said he has been a fellow colleague with them at the public service assure them that he understand their plight and challenges than other aspirant in the state. Workers deserve better life, Housing and Vehicle loan will be given to encourage workers to give their best while in government service. Workers in Edo State will smile again and be given their pride of place in the scheme of things.

Obaseki gave the assurance yesterday (today) in a statement issued in Abuja by his media Aide Benjamin Atu. Obaseki said his position on the Edo Workforce stemmed from his irrevocable stand in defending workers welfare irrespective of ethnic and political affiliation for productive and creative public service. He appealed to the workers to bring down the tension in the service and reinforce their unity, promote understanding and peaceful co-existence among them. As a highly responsible and foremost financial regulator from a foundation of Principle of social justice and good industrial relations, Obaseki said he is aware that the Nigeria Labour Congress deserve the best and will not fail in meeting their expectations when he emerge as the next governor of Edo State through their massive support.

While assuring that he would leave no stone unturned to ensure the continued delivery on his mandate, the Benin born financial expert task the Nigerian workers to show commitment and dedication to service stressing that it is only a heartless government that will deprive its citizenry from their due benefits and reward after doing their best in driving government policies. The statement describes the civil servant as the only vehicle that government at all levels depends upon in achieving their campaign promises. Without the support and encouragement from the public service, no government can move forward.

Based on your usefulness in effective service delivery, when God grant our heart desires and Obaseki becomes your next governor, he will not fail in having a regular town hall meeting with Edo Workers. He will be your friend and your brother. Commended the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, TUC, and others saying Nigerians are proud of you for the peace and unity that has existed between the government and your workforce in the past years. Greater glory awaits Edo workers when I become your governor the statement added.

Obaseki has however uses this opportunity to appeal to the Edo Workers to disregard every rumor that he has stepped down from the governorship race. He has not step down and not planning to do so. He has earlier fixed today 29th of April for his official declaration for the governorship race but has to reschedule it due to the high profile cultural activity schedule to hold at the palace of the Oba of Benin in which palace chiefs, Enigies, Odionweres, ward leaders and market women and cross section of Edo citizens will be in attendance. As a man with respect for tradition and culture he has reschedule his official declaration which shall be made public soon.
