Obituary: Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa, Dies

BEVERLY HILLS, April 29, (THEWILL) – The Oba of Benin Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Omo n'Oba n'Edo Uku Erediauwa, Akpolopkolo 1, has died.

The passing of the traditional ruler was made public on Friday afternoon by the Iyase of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe.

Symbolically, a native chalk was broken in the palace premises to signify the passage of Edo State's foremost monarch to join his ancestors.

The late Oba Erediauwa has been battling an unknown illness since last year.
