Fulani Herdsmen Kidnap Delta University Staff At Gun Point

SAN FRANCISCO, April 22 (THEWILL) – Suspected Fulani herdsmen on Thursday kidnapped a 54-year old non-academic staff of the Delta State University, Abraka, Mr. John Ogeleke, at Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state, and are reported to be demanding a ransom of N5m before he can be released.

Confirming the abduction, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Celestina Kalu explained that Ogeleke was heading towards Ogume from Kwale in his Nissan Pathfinder vehicle when four men of Fulani extraction armed with guns and sticks emerged from a nearby bush, forced the vehicle to a stop before whisking Ogeleke into the bush.

Kalu stressed that policemen in the Kwale division, vigilante team members, men of Dragon 25 police patrol team and reinforcement from nearby divisions were already searching the vast bush, adding that the Fulani leader in Kwale, Alhaji Mudi, has also been informed β€œto assist in the search as several Fulani camps are located therein.”
