BEVERLY HILLS, April 02, (THEWILL) – Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday enjoined governors of the 36 states in the country to raise the bar of their performance so that the people can have a new lease of life.

This was as he stressed that good governance would boost the economic growth of the nation.

Obasanjo, who made the call in Enugu, when he called on the state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi after attending the burial of the Ebonyi Governor's mother, lauded the Governor for his good works in Enugu and urged him to do more as posterity would judge him.

His words, “From the reports I get, you are doing well. If out of the 36 states of the country, you can get one that is doing well, it will be encouraging to continue to work on others to do well.

“By the time you can get up to 50 per cent of the states doing well, it means the country will be better. So, keep it up,” Obasanjo added.

In his response, the Enugu Governor appreciated the former president for his visit and promised to tap from his wealth of experience.

“We are, indeed, very grateful. We will continue to benefit from your wealth of experience so that we can continue to serve our people better,” Ugwuanyi stated.
