Edo 2016: Shaibu, Political Leaders, Others Meet, Insist On Obaseki
The member representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the house of representative Hon. Philip Shaibu, Notable personalities in Edo State and Afemai land including leaders of political and youth groups, former council chairmen and past political appointees, councilors and host of others, weekend reviewed those who have announced, their intention to contest the governorship in Edo State,
The political leaders and elders describe Mr. Godwin Obaseki as a serious aspirant who stands out as a goal getter. He is a foundation member of the party who was instrumental in the creation of the developmental blue print of the Oshiomhole administration. Accordingly, Obaseki voluntarily volunteered to spearhead the implementation of government policies. He is part of the success story of the Oshiomhole administration.
He understands the imperatives and arguments for why certain decisions were made during the period. So, with Godwin Obaseki as the next governor of the state, Edo project will be work -in progress. Governor Adams Oshiomhole has completed the critical aspect of laying the foundation. The effort of the governor needs to be consolidated upon by one who knows the direction and focus of the governor.
At a meeting in Jattu the leaders commended Governor Adams Oshiomhole for reducing the level of desperation among aspirant in the fourth coming governorship election. According to them, our collective support for a particular candidate will help to stop the unnecessary expenditure that is incurred by aspirants. We need to avoid a situation where people sell their properties to seek an election and fail. All the governor did was to say the truth early enough rather than hoarding the truth. The action of Oshiomhole is the missing link in the PDP that make them liers. APC do not play pranks. Our direction is made known to our people because all party members are equal.
Lordship and godfatherism has finally been buried in Edo State and that was why the comrade governor organizes a talk on the future of the next administration. Governors usually see themselves as a mini god but Oshiomhole did not pose as a god or else he won’t take his time to explain the reason for his action to every market women and traders. That is the platform he has created. Nobody has been sack on the account of his view on who becomes the next governor. As leaders we must commend the governor for not using his God given power to impose a candidate.
Philip Shaibu therefore urged Benin and indeed Edos to embrace politics anchored on qualities like credibility, competence and ability to perform and deliver the dividend of democracy to the people. “Edo State needs a well-focused manager who has the interest of the state at heart and administratively skillful. Mr. Godwin Obaseki possesses the ability, courage, sincerity and guiding philosophy to provide the right leadership for the betterment of the people. He is a stickler for hard work and excellence”.
In a statement issued in Jattu by the Member representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the house of Representative Hon. Philip Shaibu at the end of the meeting, the leaders said “We are solidly behind Godwin Obaseki. We shall mobilize our people and give him an overwhelming support. Benin, they further charged, should ensure that Obaseki becomes the next governor of the state.
