Noted Kannada novelist Prof Bhyrappa to interact with Guwahati scribes

Guwahati: Eminent Kannada author Professor Santeshivara Lingannaiah Bhyrappa, who is widely regarded as one of modern India's foremost novelists, will attend the ‘Guest of the Month’ program of Guwahati Press Club [GPC] today Monday [28 March 2016].

with the Saraswati Sanman awardee is scheduled to start at GPC

auditorium by 3 pm. Padma Shri Prof Bhyrappa, who is coming to

Guwahati to receive the Mamoni Raisom Goswami National Literature

Award 2016, constituted by Asom Sahitya Sabha, will also be

felicitated by Guwahati scribes.
Born at Santeshivara village, which is around 162 km away from

Bangalore, Prof Bhyrappa had to struggle for his education as his

family had little resources. Lost his mother in early days, Prof

Bhyrappa completed his primary education in Channarayapatna taluk and

then moved to Mysore for higher education. He briefly participated in

the Indian freedom struggle when Prof Bhyrappa was around thirteen.

A doctor of Philosophy, Prof Bhyrappa used to teach at various

institutions and retired in 1991 from the Mysore Regional College of

Education. He has authored twenty four novels in a career spanning

more than five decades. Many of his novels were translated into other

Indian languages and English. Prof Bhyrappa has been one of the

bestselling authors in Kannada for past twenty five years.
