Barely two months after fire gutted the Singer Food market in Kano, there has been an intense fire outbreak at the Sabon Gari Market in Kano, which stated late Friday around 10pm and raged for over 12 hours.

As at Saturday morning, traders were counting their loses as the inferno destroyed properties worth millions of naira. They had stormed the market when the fire started to see how some goods can be savaged from the disaster.

While the cause of the fire have not been officially stated, eye witnesses said it started around the Sani Abacha Mosque where books and other items are sold, before spreading to Gidan Magge.

They accused the fire fighters of arriving the scene almost five hours late, and not coming with enough water to stop the raging fire.
