Hassana Garuba, Former Speaker’s Wife, Kidnapped In Edo

SAN FRANCISCO, March 09, (THEWILL) – ‎The Nigerian Police has confirmed the abduction of Mrs Hassana Garuba, the wife of a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Zakawanu Garuba.

This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Edo, Mr Abiodun Osifo adding that the police were working hard to locate and set her free.

“The matter has been reported. Our men are combing the area where the incident happened‎ with a view to securing her release and arrest those responsible,” he said.

“We have deployed the necessary machinery, including electronic devices to secure her release.”

Garuba is a serving Magistrate in the state, was ‎kidnapped at Obadan village near Ogbemudia Farms on the Benin-Okenne-Lokoja road on Tuesday ‎morning.‎

Reports indicate that she was travelling to Ehor where she is a Magistrate when she was kidnapped along with some persons yet to be identified. ‎‎

The family is yet to be contacted by the kidnappers, which raises fears about her safety going by other cases of kidnap in the state.
