SAN FRANCISCO, March 01, (THEWILL) – The scarcity of fuel currently being experienced across Nigeria may have taken its toll on the aviation sector, as some airlines are already delaying and cancelling flights due to the situation.

The situation has resulted in many passengers missing their appointments and business schedules, as they could not be airlifted on time.

One of the affected airline, Arik Air, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Ola Banji, revealed that the limited supply of JET A1 (aviation fuel) across the country in the last few days had greatly hampered the airline's flight operations.

“With over 100 flights daily, this limited supply of aviation fuel had resulted, regrettably, into flight delays and sometimes outright cancellations,” he said.

“We appeal to our valued passengers to bear with us at this time even as we remain committed to providing safe and comfortable flight experience.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience our passengers may have suffered due to the fuel shortage.”
