NIGERIA KEEN TO EXPLORE ECONOMIC POTENTIAL OF PAKISTAN:(Ambassador Oyede, Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Pakistan)

Federal Republic of Nigeria under the new administration of Muhammadu Buhari is determined to broaden economic interaction with Pakistan in the field of Information Technology, Agricultural research and machinery, Textile Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry Sports goods, Surgical equipments, footwear and exchange of trade delegations.


This was stated by Ambassador Lateef Oyede, Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Pakistan while addressing the 11th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony of the Founding of Yoruba Community of Nigeria in Pakistan on the other day held at the Eternity African Restaurant in the Federal Capital.


Ambassador Lateef Oyede also extended heartiest congratulations to Abdul Rauf Alam, Chairman, Founding Group, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on assuming the high level responsibilities of President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and urged him to lead a Trade Delegation to Nigeria for the Nigeria High Commission, Islamabad will extend all possible assistance and cooperation to further strengthen bilateral trade.


Speaking on the occasion, Asiwaju A O Omomolesho, the Founding President of Yoruba Community of Nigeria in Pakistan said , “Major export items from Pakistan to Nigeria are medicament mixtures, cotton fabrics, woven fabric of synthetic fiber, tractors, garments, and electro-medical apparatus etc. Items of imports from Nigeria to Pakistan comprise cotton, raw hides and skins, pharmaceutical products and articles of rubber etc.“


He also added Pakistan is capable of facilitating Nigerian market with better quality products at competitive rates. Pakistan can export rice, electrical appliances, auto-parts etc even at much competitive rates.


Abiodun Mustapha, Ilufemiloye (1) and Incumbent President, Yoruba Community of Nigeria in Pakistan (YCNP) thanked Ambassador Lateef Oyede for gracing the ceremony and said Nigerian Community in Pakistan, particularly, Yoruba Diaspora in Pakistan is working under the initiatives of Nigeria High Commission in Pakistan to take Pakistan-Nigeria Trade relations to the new heights in future and explore genuine economic cooperation and promote investment bridge between Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Federal Republic of Nigeria.


At the conclusion of the ceremony, Yoruba Cultural dance performance was presented which was highly appreciated by both Pakistani and Nigerian Community.
