BEVERLY HILLS, December 31, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has averred that he cannot categorically confirm whether or not Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents since April 2014 are still alive.

Speaking during his first presidential media chat on Wednesday, Buhari expressed worry that his government was not really making headway in locating the girls, stressing that it was difficult to free the girls at once since the terrorists keeping them in groups.

While expressing the readiness of his government to negotiate with Boko Haram members, Buhari assured that not everyone or persons claiming to be Boko Haram will be given audience.

His words: “The honest truth is that I don’t know the actual place and state of the girls.”

“The more reason we are trying to be very careful before we negotiate with any group.”

Before we negotiate, we must make sure they show us the actual location of the girls. We must make sure they are complete.

“At the moment, we don’t really know if the girls are alive or not but from intelligence report, the insurgents have divided them into groups so we could not easily locate them.”
