HURIWA Condemns Buhari Over Disrespect Of Court Order On Nnamdi Kanu: Condemns Silence Of NBA; National Assembly

By Emmanuel Onwubiko

Vexed by the persistent disrespect of different valid orders of the Courts of competent jurisdiction directing President Muhammadu Buhari to free unconditionally and immediately Mr Nnamdi Kanu from the detention facility of DSS, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA ) has criticised the Nigerian President General Muhammadu Buhari for dragging Nigeria back to the military style tyranny but quickly warned him that his plot to institutionalise totalitarianism would be actively resisted.

HURIWA - a Pro-Democracy Non Governmental organisation also carpeted the Nigerian National Assembly and the national leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for standing by and do nothing whilst President Muhammadu Buhari flagrantly violate subsisting and binding Court order directing the hierarchy of Department of State Service to immediately and unconditionally free Mr Nnamdi Kanu the Director of the Europe Based Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who has been held under dehumanising condition since three Months.

In a statement signed jointly by the National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media affairs Director Miss Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA said the silence of strategic stakeholders to the consistent rape of the Nigerian Constitution by President Muhammadu Buhari is disgraceful and reprehensible just as the group said it was heroic that the Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja reportedly stayed away from an illegal arraignment of Mr Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian Government on treasonable felony charges when in fact President Muhammadu Buhari has committed high treason by refusing to obey a clear and binding order of the Federal High Court.

HURIWA said :" President Muhammadu Buhari stands absolutely condemned for his shameful act of disrespect of the Nigerian Court system which is granted tge constitutional judicial powers of the federation. This show of shame will have adverse consequences on the international image of Nigeria because civilised people around the World would view Nigeria as a Banana Republic whereby the political leadership have no regard whatsoever to the Rule of law."
