Mrs. Obiano’s Empowerment Tour Excites Communities

The empowerment tour of the wife of the governor of Anambra State, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano to sensitize indigent women and widows across the 177 communities in Anambra State on the need to undertake income earning ventures by taking advantage of the skills acquisition programmes of her NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ) has continued to elicit joy among the rural folks, as well as previous and future beneficiaries.

Mrs. Obiano also use opportunity of the tour to provide rice, cash money, school bags with educational materials to some indigent women, widows and physically challenged children in the communities, and fertilizer with cassava stocks for women farming cooperatives.

So far, the wife of the governor has taken the empowerment gospel to women in twelve Local government Areas including Ayamelum, Anambra East, Oyi, Dunukofia, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Idemili North and Idemili South, Orumba North and Orumba South, Aguata and Anaocha, with the enthusiastic crowd at each stop chanting appreciative songs of solidarity and promising second term in office for the governor Willie Obiano for his good performance so far in Anambra state.

At Orumba South LGA where the governors’ was received by the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Mr. John Onyeakpa, his wife, Ogochukwu, traditional rulers and community leaders, the governor’s wife got the impression that she was at home having commenced the implementation of her humanitarian programmes in the state with the transformation of lives and infrastructure at Basden Memorial Special School Isulo.

Addressing the cheering crowd, the governor’s wife noted that the empowerment tour was part of her commitment to put smile on the faces of widows and less privileged children.

Chief Mrs. Obiano pointed out that the tour provides her the opportunity to inform the citizens especially women in the communities to take steps and register in the forthcoming empowerment training programme being sponsored by her pet project, CAFE commencing in the first quarter of next year.

She stated that about 300 trained persons would pass out this December 2015 and will be provided with working tools, and seed money to become employers of labour, bread winners and ultimately self-reliant.

In her speech, the wife of Orumba South LG Council, Mrs. Ogochukwu Onyeakpa appreciated the humanitarian gesture of the governor’s wife whom she described in Biblical terms as “Dorcas, Esther and Theresa of our time.”

At Orumba North LGA where the Local Government Council Chairman, Mr. Okey Enekwe, his wife, Chinwe and Political Liaison Officer, Emeka Aforka, and Head of Service, Chief (Engr.) Chuma Inno Osibe, joined the women and youth at a rousing reception for the wife of the governor; Chief Mrs. Obiano appreciated the intimidating crowd which according to her was “an evidence of appreciation of tremendous accomplishments of her husband, governor Obiano in all sectors of life including provision of security, building flyovers to beautify the capital city of Awka and promptly paying of workers’ salaries at a time when regular payment is major headache for some.”

Chief Mrs. Obiano recalled that she formed CAFÉ to support her husband, the working governor and expressed immense gratitude to the people for recognizing the achievements of the governor so far, stressing it is largely the handy-work of God that the vision and mission outlined by governor Obiano is being realized in record time. She also noted that their call for second tenure is an endorsement of what the governor is doing presently, and assured them of continued benefit from good governance and her support through CAFÉ’s humanitarian programmes.

In her speech, the wife of the Orumba North Local Government Council, Mrs. Chinwe Enekwe thanked the governor’s wife for her selfless and humanitarian service in championing the welfare of Anambra women and beyond through her pet project, CAFÉ.

Mrs. Enekwe while appreciating Mrs. Obiano’s unwavering support to her husband in the implementation of his 4-Pillars of Economic Development which has yielded the transformation across the state, and prayed for its sustainability.

She pointed out however that the LGA is saddled with problems of evacuation of agricultural produce, and provision of soft loan to indigent women in addition to approval and provision of Rehabilitation of Centre at Ufuma.

Several speakers in Aguata and Anaocha council area also eulogized the giant strides of the governor and the passion for humanitarian activities demonstrated by his wife.

The tour attracted musical and dance groups and payment of homage by Presidents-General’s wives, Osodieme Divine Women Group, Osodieme Ladies Movement, CAFÉ Ambassadors, APGA supporters and market women n from the areas visited.
