Nigerian Communications Commissions Special Day At The PH Trade Fair

The President of Port Harcourt chamber of Commerce , Dr Emi Membere-Otaji, his exco, elected council and entire membership of the 2015 Port Harcourt International Trade fair has been lauded for providing a platform to sensitize and mobilize the people on matters concerning phone and data services.

The executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, (NCC) Professor Umaru Garba Danbatta made this commendation during the event to specially mark NCC Day at the ongoing trade fair. He congratulated the chamber for successfully organizing the 11th Port Harcourt international trade fair

With the NCc special day, events at the ongoing 11th Port Harcourt International Trade Fair got to another crescendo as they rolled out the drums to celebrate and showcase what makes them a unique and distinct agency from others. They hosted stakeholders to its special day at the fair to deepen awareness on its mandate of regulating the telecommunications industry.

Indeed the celebrations added colour and excitement to the already bustling activities taking place at the fair.

Visitors and exhibitors were drawn to the venues of the celebrations to witness enriching remarks, funfair with plenty to eat and drink on a rare occasion.

In his remark the executive vice chairman of NCC, professor Umaru Garba Danbatta said the objective of such NCC events was to reflect on the activities of the commission even as it also provides opportunity to meet with telecom consumers.

He said NCC has a very active consumer affairs bureau whose sole responsibility is to look after the affairs of the consumer at all times. However he said the critical role the commission is requesting partnership with the public, is in protecting telecom infrastructure. According to him, vandalization of telecom facilities, including lockout of base stations, stealing of generators, diesels and other vices affect the quality of service that can be provided in a given location

He urged all and sundry to use the second level complaint platform provided by the commission by calling number 622 where service providers are unable to resolve our issues to further speed up the resolution of problems.

In his remark the PHCCIMA president, Dr Emi Membere-Otaji commended NCC for taking advantage of available platform to sensitize the people. He urged NCC to tackle head on the issue of quality service so that the people can get value for their money and a fair deal in the use of telecom service.

Chairman of entertainment subcommittee of the 2015 trade fair, Mrs. Mercy Abu in her vote of thanks thanked NCC for taking advantage of the trade fair to carry out their statutory objective, she she assured them that PHHCIMA doors are always open to leverage on her to get across to retinue of data service consumers.

As the fair continues, it will further avail visitors the opportunity to continue bargain shopping and sight-seeing, fun fair, networking, pomp and pageantry.
