2011: AKINLADE JOINS OGUN GUBER RACE

By NBF News

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology, Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade, has warned that only unity of purpose could deliver the 2011 governorship to the Ogun West people.

Akinlade, who spoke at a meeting in Ilaro, while expressing his desire to contest for the office of the Governor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recalled how the Yewa/Awori people are being marginalized in the scheme of things in the state.

The Asiwaju of Owode-Yewa in Yewa South Local Government area of the state, however advised his co-aspirants and even elders of the area not to see the race as a 'do or die affair that could generate hatred and bad blood amongst us.'

He recalled with sadness how the Yewa/Awori's missed the chances in 1979 and 2003, and hailed Governor Gbenga Daniel and former President Olusegun for their support to end the decade of injustice that had befallen the Ogun west senatorial district. Akinlade, who boasted that he has placed over 120 indigenes of the state in various federal appointments since he got to the national assembly, noted that the PDP remains the party to beat in the state.

He also used the opportunity of the event to deny rumours making the rounds that he had planned to contest as an Independent candidate.

'As you can see, all the people who have come here today with me to seek the go-ahead of our Elders are members of the PDP in both Ipokia and Yewa South, where to the glory of God and your unflinching support .I am representing in the National Assembly; if you see any sticker announcing our collective ambition through me, without our umbrella Party logo, it is done by our friends outside the party.
