Jimeta community wants District head sack
The Community of Jimeta in Yola North Local Government Area have called on the Adamawa Emirate Council to remove their District Head, Alhaji Mohammed Baba-Paris and replaced him with God fearing and competent new leader.
Addressing a press conference in Yola on Tuesday on behalf of the community, Alhaji Musa Garba, said that the call for the removal of the district head was viable for the peace to reign in the area.
Garba alleged that the community had lost confidence in the leadership style of the district head henceforth, want him removed.
He confirmed that the community, after widely consultations wrote a petition to Adamawa Emirate Council on November 5, 2015 calling for the removal of the district head.
“I wish to inform you that as member of the Adamawa State Peace Committee and person vested with the protection of lives and property in the state.
“I wrote and distributed the petition on behalf of Jimeta Community demanding for the removal of Alhaji Mohammed Baba-Paris as district head of Jimeta.
“Also on behalf of the community appealed to the Royal Highness, the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo to appoint for us a God fearing and competent new leader.” Garba said.
He complained that among the reasons why the community wants the district head to be removed include his attitude of lack of respect and sympathy to elders, religious leaders and zero approach in sustaining peace in the community.
When contacted over the situation, Alhaji Ziyad Baba-Paris, the secretary to the district head confirmed that they were aware about the petition.
Baba-Paris however, said that such type of petitions was normal.
“We are informed about the petition and you know such allegations are normal.” Baba-Paris said.
