The Charitable Side Of Efan Ekoku The Former Super Eagles Striker

At a time when most of his contemporaries are busy chasing one contract or the other or struggling to get known outside the round leather game, English born Nigerian former footballer Efangwu Goziem ‘’Efan’’ Ekoku is busy working on encouraging kids who love sport by volunteering to speak at the launch of the Obi Ikenchukwu Foundation (OIF).

The former Super Eagles player will be speaking at the debut seminar of the Obi Ikenchukwu Foundation on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on the topic ‘‘Sport and The Child’’.

The Obi Ikenchukwu Foundation is a charity based in Nigeria aimed to prevent domestic violence, stop child abuse with particular focus on Child Street hawking while also helping the orphans in our midst.

Efan Ekoku who was born in Cheetham Hill in Manchester, England started his playing career in 1989 with Sutton United. He is expected to fly in from his London base to speak at the much-talked-about OIF launch in November.

Efan made his first appearance for the Super Eagles in 1994 and went on to make twenty appearances, scoring six goals. He has played for clubs such as Bournemouth, Norwich City, Wimbledon, Grasshoppers, Brentford among others. He now works as a colour commentator for Premier League Productions responsible for world feed commentaries. Unknown to many, Efan Ekoku has FA and UEFA coaching badges.

The OIF launch will also have in attendance Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Edwin Clarke, Former CEO Federal Housing Authority Sir Fortune Ebie, the First Lady of Lagos State, Her Excellency Mrs Bolanle Patience Ambode, First Lady of Delta state, Her Excellency Dame Edith Okowa, HRM Keagborekuzi 1 Dein of Agbor Kingdom, Former Deputy Governor of Delta State Prof. Amos Agbe Utuama (SAN), Publisher of ThisDay Newspaper Nduka Obaigbena and other dignitaries in attendance.
