Without The Holy Spirit, You Are Not Saved And Not A Christian

"Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are." ---1 Corinthians 3:16-17.

I listened to a preacher the other day trying to explain the meaning of Exodus20:15 " You shall not steal." He said the True Lord God Almighty had no properties to steal and what that part of the Ten Commandments meant was to safeguard the commercial relationship among humans. The preacher rendered that commandment secular. In other words, the Lord God Almighty was appealing to the commercial and economic interests of human beings. There is no single part of the Decalogue that is secular. They are all spiritual just as Apostle Paul pointed out in Romans 7:14: “For we know that the law (referring to the Ten Commandments) is spiritual but I am carnal, sold under sin." The laws and commandments regulating commerce which were later modernized and codified as our modern law known as Commercial Law in many law schools today weren't derived from Exodus 20:1-26.

Those laws are found in the Book of Leviticus and consequently adopted by the Romans and later codified and updated by the British in Medieval England which today formed the basis for our legal jurisprudence in many Anglo-Saxon and Western nations, the United States inclusive which were all conquered and once administered by the Mother Country: England. These erstwhile British territories included India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and virtually the whole of Africa. The Judea-Christi foundation of virtually two-third of the world cannot be disputed in our world today thus the man of God that interpreted the Decalogue didn't allow the Holy Spirit to minister unto him and illuminate his understanding to correctly understand the Ten Commandments.

When the Lord God Almighty told Moses in Exodus 20:15 that human beings should not steal as a law, He meant there are some spiritual properties that exclusively belong to Jehovah Yahweh which no human should covet from Him. In other words, there are things referred to as " spiritual thefts" in the Holy Bible (Revelation 9: 20-2: " The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see, nor talk nor walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.").

There are three basic things that the True Lord God Almighty warned us not to steal and the first spiritual theft against the Lord was stated in Romans 2:22 as one of the amplification of the Ten Commandments. Your body is supposed to be the temple of the Living God. It has been His desire all along to have a relationship with us and that was the meaning of the word Tabernacle. Yes, the Creator wants and earnestly desires to stay in the human spirit through the Holy Spirit. That was why our Lord Jesus Christ told the adulterous Samaritan woman in Sychar Village in John 4 that the real and authentic kingdom of the True Lord God Almighty is not by observation, but is in you. In other words, God resides in the human spirit so He can fellowship with each and every one of us. Satan and his demons too also crave and desire almost obsessively to inhabit the human body.

This is the spiritual warfare that is being fought by every human soul that is on earth or will ever be born on earth today in the world. When you disallow the True Lord God Almighty from residing in your spirit through the Holy Spirit then you are a thief and are robbing God. Since a temple is a place where worshipers of God meet with Him to render their acts of obeisance and adoration to Him in the physical realm, the spiritual act of worship that He requires now after the Blood Atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ is in the human heart. When you rob Him of this spiritual act of Godly worship, you are stealing from Him. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this point to the woman in Sychar in John 4: 21-26: ("Jesus said to her: “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”

The first spiritual stealing that will be counted against any human being on the Day of Judgment is not money stolen, property seized or documents forged, houses coveted or money defrauded for all these are physical thefts, but you are robbing the Holy Spirit from inhabiting your spirit. If you do not have the Holy Spirit, then you are not a Christian. This was how Apostle Paul described this spiritual truth and fact in Romans 8:7-9. By the way, the other two spiritual thefts or stealing that constitute violation and infringement of Exodus 20: 15 in the Decalogue are disclosed also in the Holy Bible, but are outside the scope of this article. Now that we know the meaning of the Commandment contained in Exodus 20:15 " “Thou shall not steal," how do we safeguard against violation of that Divine Law? In other words, what can you do to uphold this law of Exodus 20:15? This goes back primarily to what our Lord Jesus Christ told Nicodemus in John 3:5

YOU MUST BE BORN-AGAIN. YES, YOU MUST BE BORN-AGAIN!

I read it all the time, receive email all the time and hear it on the telephone all the time of people who bear Christian names, were born into Christianity all their lives, named by a pastor on the eighth day, sired by a pastor and blah, blah, blah. None of these activities makes you a Christian. The One who bought us with His Precious Blood and Whom we are all baptized into rendered all these human activities ineffectual and unacceptable, even to a Rabbinical figure as knowledgeable as Nicodemus. The King of kings and Lord of lords told Nicodemus without mincing words in John 3: 5: "

You must be born-again, period! Our Lord Jesus Christ gave that verdict and that settles it. When we parrot the same refrain to would-be followers of Him, we do not invent those words. Apostle Paul warned that, if you are not born-again, you are not a Christian (Romans 8: 9 “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his " NKJ). In other words, you are NOT a Christian, simply because you assumed or thought you are one. You must have the Holy Spirit of God as evidence that you belong to Him. Apostle Peter warned that, if you are not born of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, you are not his (. 1 Peter 1:23: “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God). Apostle John also rendered a similar verdict in 1 John 5: 5-8. “Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. ..there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement." ).

So I ask you, are you a born-again child of the Living God? You are not a born-again Christian, because you bear a Christian name, go to church, your parents are pastors and let me also tell you this from the revealed Word of God, speaking in tongues is not the evidence of being a born again child of the Living God. I repeat, speaking in tongues is not an evidence that you are a born-again Christian and a child of the Most High God. You probably are shocked at reading this, because you have been led to believe over the years that speaking in tongue is a sign of being indwell by the Holy Spirit. Organized religion and those short of the full Spirit of the Lord God Almighty got it wrong and the error has spread throughout the Christian World. We have so much to say about this below but here are the seven characteristic differences and distinguishing features between speaking in tongues and praying in tongues.

First, praying in tongues is the evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit, but not speaking in tongues. I have written about these two concepts here in this column before and you can search my archives for more on how to understand the differences between these two concepts. Second, speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit, whereas, praying in tongues is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Third, speaking in tongues is an earthly language which can be interpreted by any human being who knows and understand that earthly language out of the numerous languages and dialects in the world. But praying in tongues is not an earthly human language, but a heavenly understood and decoded language.

Fourth, a person who speaks in tongue edifies the body of Christ and thus is a congregational benefit, whereas, praying in tongues is for personal edification. Fifth, speaking in tongues is supposed to be used in conjunction with the gift of interpretation of tongues, because, if you don't possess those twin gifts, they will be unprofitable for church edification, but praying in tongues, on the other hand as one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is permanent. In other words, speaking in tongues is a gift the Holy Spirit which He chooses to use a person for at the Holy Spirit's choosing and time and place.

Sixth, praying in tongues is uttering mysteries to angelic beings and only the Lord God Almighty and the heavenly hosts can understand what you are saying, but speaking in tongues are not mysterious utterances hence Satan and his demons including their human agents can understand and hear you, thus, speaking in tongues can be mimicked and faked. I have been to churches where the latter has been faked before, because the Holy Spirit busted the Satanists faking speaking in tongues and I called them out.

The seventh and final difference between praying in tongues and speaking in tongues is that, unlike the former which you can exercise and use anyhow, anywhere, anytime without inhibitions, the latter is seasonal and occasional, because it is a gift provided and given to genuine servants of the Lord God Almighty to be used when the Holy Spirit wants it used and not when you want to use it. In other words, speaking in tongues is not for show off, it is a gift like prophecy, faith, healing, wisdom, discernment, understanding and knowledge purposely given by the Holy Spirit to give honor, adoration and glory to the Sovereign Lord of lords and King of kings, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hallelujah! If you are a redeemed child of the Living God and genuinely born again and you have the ability to pray in tongues anytime and anyhow, you are indeed a Holy Spirit-filled man or woman of God. On the other hand, if you can switch on and off the power to speak in tongues as you like, then seek spiritual help immediately, unless you can interpret what you are speaking in tongues. Consequently, the question that comes to mind is, how do I know when I am speaking in tongues or praying in tongues? The differing characteristics stated above are enough to know when a person is praying in tongues from speaking in tongues. In future articles in this column, we shall elucidate more on these two important concepts.

WHO WILL BECOME THE NEW OONI OF IFE? I paused few weeks ago in order for the people of Ile-Ife and those charged with the obsequies and burial of the passage of the late Ooni to finalize the passage rites of the last Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade Olubuse II. Now that the king has gone to the Other World and his spiritual mother, Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo -HID -Awolowo has also left in tow as we predicted the demise of both spiritual son and mother in this column at the beginning of the year, we are seeing an acrimonious succession ahead. For many Yoruba adults and those knowledgeable in Yoruba culture, they would understand the spiritual relationship between the late Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Oyeniyi Awolowo, his wife, HID and Okunade Sijuade. When Okunade Sijuade was about to be crowned in 1980 as successor to Ooni Aderemi in Ile-Ife, the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was the Spiritual Master of Ceremonies. The cause of the death of prominent Ife son, socialite and hotelier, Bobo Doherty was part of the spiritual connection we are alluding to here in this piece. This year that traditional rites often associated with demonic rites will be extremely difficult.

*It will be difficult and legally acrimonious to select and crown the successor to the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, the Ooni of Ife, Ile-Ife, Western Nigeria. L-R Okunade Sijuwade, the late Ooni of Ife and young Okunade with the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the 1970s before Okunade Sijuwade was made king in 1980.

The "right" person for the vacant stool will NOT be chosen or selected, because he will refuse to be drawn into those demonic rites. The person that will be selected will incur the wrath of the other contestants who will refuse to recognize him. There will be legal fireworks and prolong litigation over the vacant stool for some time to come. The candidate that will emerge will find it extremely difficult to consolidate and as aforementioned, parts of the satanic rites commonly associated with the coronation will be breached. Our allusion to Doherty's death is instructive here and for elderly Yoruba people versed in culture, they know what we are referring to here. To sum it up, a nasty, bitter, acrimonious and lengthy legal slug-fest is on the way and whoever emerges will find it difficult to consolidate. The person too should also be careful as his reign may be short-lived.

WHY TIMIPRE SYLVA, TIMI ALAIBE AND APC WILL NEVER WIN BAYELSA GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION? As we revealed here penultimate week and we are reiterating it here for the final and last time as far as the December Governorship Election in Bayelsa State is concerned. The two Tims of Timi Alaibe and Timipre Sylva are just wasting their time. The APC will not and will never win the Governorship Election in Bayelsa State this year.

The incumbent Gov Seriaka Dickson will coast home to victory for his second and final term as the state's helmsman. The Holy Spirit says we should tell the APC in Bayelsa State, that a house divided against itself cannot stand so it will be with the party in the state. The PDP will retain the state not because of former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife or any political personality in the state, rather, because of Seriaka Dickson has been decreed spiritually to govern the state for eight years. There will be a change in the state sometime in the future but NOT this year.

MR. ABUBAKAR AUDU WILL NOT RETURN TO LUGARD HOUSE IN LOKOJA, KOGI STATE

I have stated here in previous article through the Holy Spirit that the person that should become the governor of Kogi State is a dark political horse from Ebira Land. We disclosed that the person would coast home to victory, if he had thrown his hat into the race in the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State. Well, no person has so far come from Ebira Land among the contestants in the forthcoming governorship election in the confluence state. Many have called me on the phone and many have written to me too that Mr. Abubakar Audu has won the APC primary and hence will return to Lugard Government House in Lokoja.

*Gov. Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State will win his second and final term in the forthcoming Governorship Election but Abubakar Audu of APC will not return as governor in Kogi Stae.

I maintained in my earlier piece that Mr. Audu will lose the election, if fielded by the APC. I haven't seen anything contrary to what the Spirit is saying. At the last minute, the APC should hold a meeting to withdraw Audu's name as its flag bearer in the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State. If eventually the APC sticks to its gun and go ahead with Audu, the status quo will remain. In other words, in the absence of a candidate from Ebira Land and in the presence of Mr. Audu flying the APC flag, Gov Wada will return for his second and final term as Governor of Kogi State in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kogi State.

WHY EX-COMMUNICATE A 103-YEAR OLD PARISHIONER FROM CHURCH SERVICE? The news is very disturbing and when I read it, it broke my heart. According to media reports, a pastor in a Pentecostal Church in Atlanta Georgia excommunicated a woman from the church congregation, because the woman opposed the pastor in the area of speaking in tongues. Now this woman parishioner is not just an ordinary member but a long standing worshiper who has been worshiping in this particular church even before the pastor was born. The woman is 103 years old and belongs to the Old School, thus when the new pastor kid on the block came with the fullness of the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the centenarian couldn't handle it. The reaction of the young pastor and Old Mama are both wrong. The pastor ought to have sat Old Mama down and explain to her through the undiluted Word of the Living God the meaning of speaking in tongues. The Old Mama needs knowledge and the pastor also needs knowledge, a vital ingredient of the gift of the Holy Spirit that is missing in our churches today.

First and foremost, many churches of today have mistaken speaking in tongues with praying in tongues which is unfortunate as noted earlier on in this piece above. . I have written about these two concepts in this column in the past and it's worth repeating here again. Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit ( 1 Corinthians 12: 10). On the other hand, praying in tongues is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Jude 20). When you are in a church congregation and speak in tongues as some Christians erroneously assumed, you are merely praying in tongues but not speaking in tongues. As one of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues is a gift bestowed on evangelists and missionaries to edify the church.

As a matter of fact through the revealed Word of God, there are seven distinguishing characteristics of speaking in tongues and praying in tongues. We do not have the time and space to go into the details again as we have already stated these seven characteristics above, but we will dwell and expatiate more on these seven features in future articles in this column but know this, speaking in tongues is not the evidence of being a born again Christian. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit and He decides on whom to bestow such gift.

There are many Christians being used by the Lord God Almighty that are indwell with the Holy Spirit and do not speak in tongues but do pray in tongues. I thank the Lord God Almighty that He has given me the gifts of speaking in tongues, praying in tongues and also interpretation of tongues. But if you do not have the gift of speaking in tongues, that doesn't diminish your salvation. This was the sensible spiritual approach the pastor at this Atlanta GA church should have taken, instead of driving Old Mama out of her church. I am happy Old Mama stays put in her old church and kudos to the local police in Georgia that refused to get involved when called into the funny scene. As my wife remarked when we read the news: " Which sensible and truly man or woman of God will drive a parishioner away from a church? That's stupid!” I wholeheartedly concur.
