Visa issuance to ISIS chief: immigration arrests two

By The Rainbow

Nigeria Immigration Services has arrested and handed over to relevant authorities two Nigerians in Kano State who are alleged to have invited the Lebanese terror kingpin, Ahmed Al Assir, to visit Nigeria.

Assir, an ISIS chief was issued Nigeria visa but was intercepted by watchful Egyptian security operatives while trying to board a Cairo bound flight en route Nigeria last August.

Comptroller-General of Immigration, Martin Kure Abeshi, made the disclosure in Abuja on Wednesday just as he denied any role of the service in issuing visa to the terror chief.

“I want to say that the immigration service, from the records available, did not issue that visa.

It might be the officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry because they also issue visa on our behalf.

“So, the Ministry stands a better chance of answering that question, but I can categorically say that none of my officers issued that visa.”
