SAN FRANCISCO, September 11, (THEWILL) – An explosion Friday morning hit an internally displaced persons camp in Yola, Adamawa State, killing at least two persons and leaving an undisclosed number of persons injured, emergency personnel said.

The blast, which is the first in such camps, occurred at the Malhoki camp where some of those displaced by the six-year-old Boko Haram insurgency are being accommodated.

The police said the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device left at the camp. Usually, security is tight around the facility with armed troops manning the gates and carrying out searches on passengers and vehicles entering it.
