By George Ugbegua

Lagos, Nigeria; 07 August 2015: Nigeria’s premiere full-service Public Relations Consultancy, The Quadrant Company has flagged off its monthly media partnership scheme, the TQC Media Champion Award, with the presentation to the July 2015 winner, the Brands and Advertising Editor of ThisDay newspapers, Mr. RaheemAkingbolu.

Speaking at the presentation, the Managing Director of The Quadrant Company, Mr. Bolaji Okusaga, emphasised the importance of sustaining the symbiotic relationship between the Media and Integrated Marketing Communications agencies through creative engagement strategies.

Mr. Okusaga said, “At The Quadrant Company, we remain committed to fostering a long-term partnership with the Media. We are two sides of a coin; we need one another and complete one another.

‘’The Media Champion Award is our way of identifying and honouring supportive media partners who embody the same values of professionalism and integrity that form the foundation upon which The Quadrant Company stands.’’

Commenting on his award, Mr. Akingbolu, observed that the Media Champion Award is evident that TQC understands the need to redefine the mechanics of the Media/ Agency relationship.

According to him, “Both sides have to realise that the relationship between the Media and Communications agencies ought to be symbiotic and long-term. Unfortunately, the trend is to treat the relationship as transactional. I believe this is a splendid idea and I am proud and honoured to be the first recipient of the award.”

Mr. Akingbolu’s sentiments were echoed by the President of the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN), Mr. Goddy Ofose who witnessed the award presentation, alongside Content Development/Media Engagement Director, TQC, Segun Adebowale and Finance Director, TQC, Femi Olaleye.

In Mr. Ofose’s words, “Nigerian Journalists are often perceived by Communication agencies as avaricious and grasping, with little regard for the ethics of the profession. Gratefully, through our longstanding relationship with The Quadrant Company, however, the organisation has treated the Media with respect and dignity, viewing us as partners, not subordinates or errand-runners.”
