BEVERLY HILLS, August 08, (THEWILL) – Barring any unexpected changes, President Muhammad Buhari will appoint Kano Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II as the amirul hajj and leader of the Federal Government delegation to the 2015 pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, THEWILL can exclusively reveal this Saturday.

Palace sources told our correspondent in confidence that the Emir was notified of the development when he recently visited the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he met with the President.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III, had previously held that position for several years. It was not clear as at press time why he was dropped for the Emir of Kano.

The sources said the Emir is held in high esteem following his record at the CBN which ended abruptly when he revealed that the NNPC was withholding billions of dollars in crude oil revenue due to the federal government, a revelation that endeared him to the now ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The last time the Emir of Kano was amirul hajj was during the military regime of late dictator, General Sani Abacha in the 90's, when he appointed now deceased Emir Ado Bayero to the role.

Efforts to get a formal confirmation of the development from the Presidency were not successful as at press time.
