…Commended On Lofty Initiatives

By Jerry Needam

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste management Agency, Bro Felix Obuah urges Caretaker Committee Chairmen of Local Government Councils in the State to join Governor Nyesom Wike in his campaign to keep the State clean, healthy and safe.

The RIWAMA Boss, who made the appeal while playing host to the Caretaker Committee Chairmen of Local Government Councils in the State, today, Monday, August 3, 2015, in his office in Port Harcourt, explained that the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Barr Nyesom Wike, is desirous of a clean, healthy and safe State, and also in a hurry to return Port Harcourt, the State Capital to its former Garden City status.

He encouraged them to set up Sanitation Committees in their respective local government areas and to ensure that the people of their areas fully participate in all organized sanitation exercises as well as comply strictly with the laws and regulations governing the monthly exercise in the State.

The Sole Administrator further warns the Council Chairmen not to see their appointments as political patronage for themselves and their family members, but a duty to serve humanity and God.

According to him, “do not use your position to create division among the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the people in your Local Government Areas. Use your positions to unite the people. Do not work in isolation from the Party. Run an all inclusive government. Be humble. Be a servant and not to lord over the people”, he admonished them.

The Local Government Caretaker Chairmen, in their response, promised to commit themselves to the success of the Governor’s quest for a clean, healthy and safe State, assuring the RIWAMA Boss of full cooperation with the activities of his agency.

They also pledged to domesticate the lofty initiatives of the Agency in their various Council areas, particularly ensuring that the monthly sanitation exercise is strictly ad-held to, and the laws complied with accordingly.

They thanked the RIWAMA Boss for his attention and called on him not to relent on the enormous tasks in taking the State to greater height under the Wike’s administration.
