Gombe Blasts : NEMA Confirms 29 Dead, 105 Injured

SAN FRANCISCO, July 23, (THEWILL) – As uncertainty continues to dog the casualty figures in Wednesday night blasts at two motorparks in Gombe, the Gombe State capital,the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) Thursday confirmed that 29 persons were killed while 105 others were injured in the attacks.

NEMA’s Information Officer in the state, Umar Madigawa, confirmed the figures Thursday afternoon,explaining that the explosion at Dadin Kowa motor park occurred at 7:15 pm Wednesday while the one at Dukku motor park occurred shortly after at 8:30pm.

According to Madigawa, the remains of 17 victims recovered from the sites of the attacks were deposited at Federal Medical Centre, Gombe while 67 persons who were injured were taken there for treatment.

He added that 12 corpses were also deposited at the Gombe Specialists Hospital while 38 injured persons were taken there for treatment.
