16,000 hoseholds gets foodstuff for Sallah

The Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE), on Monday shared food items to about 16,000 households in Borno State for Sallahpreparation.

The Secretary of the Initiative, Alhaji Umar Gulani, at a presentation in Magumeri LGA of Borno state, said more than 16,000 beneficiaries were targeted for this distribution of food items delivered by the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE).

He said it was another round for distribution of relief materials as people are approaching the end of fasting and Sallah Day celebration.

"The federal government is really willing to alleviate the suffering peole in the affected towns by the insurgency in Borno state with all the possible machineries available," he saidadding that the Initiative will cover targeted beneficiaries in five LGAs as well as other states ofBauchi and Adamawa.

"We, in partnership with NEMA and the Red Cross, are reaching out to the targeted beneficiaries who have not been displaced but affected with lack of food as they could not farm this year," Gulani said.

Red Cross Branch Secretary, Comrade Mohammed Zannah Darma commended the procedure of reaching the targeted beneficiaries, saying their team earlier went to those villages and made accreditation, issuing cards to those who were screened to benefit.
