National Day Message for South Sudan

WASHINGTON, July 9, 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend best wishes to the people of South Sudan as you celebrate the fourth anniversary of independence on July 9.

With hopeful hearts, the people of South Sudan decided four years ago to become the world's newest country. In the face of enormous challenges, including an ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting millions of civilians, the aspirations of the people of South Sudan remain, above all, for a peaceful, prosperous future. The United States will continue to stand with all those who work toward this future so that your country may have the peace and stability we all wish to see.
