…As President Assures Of Early End To Boko Haram

BEVERLY HILLS, July 09, (THEWILL) – The Kibaku Area Development Association (KADA), Wednesday, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to visit Chibok within 100 days to have a first hand experience of the suffering and pains of the people following the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in the community by Boko Haram over a year ago.

Spokesman of the association, Dauda Illiya, made the call along with some other demands for the Chibok community when the association visited the President at the Presidential Villa in the company of the BringBackOurGirls# (BBOG) campaign group led by the former Minister of Education, Dr. (Mrs) Oby Ezekwesili.

Illiya said: “We make bold to say that most, if not all the challenges facing the Chibok, people today are symptomatic of the general insecurity in our homeland. Given your well-known pedigree and reputation, we have no doubt in our minds that the challenges of homeland security in Chibok, nay Nigeria, will soon be a thing of the past. We appreciate the movement of the military high command to Maiduguri.

“The entire Chibok community anxiously requests that Mr. President visit Chibok within the first 100 days of this administration to have a first hand view of the plight of our people, while we look forward to the safe return of our daughters very soon.”

The demands came on a day President Buhari assured that ‎plans have reached advanced stage to rescue the over 200 Chibok girls abducted since April 14, 2014 .

‎President Buhari who received the BringBackOurGirls# (BBOG) campaign group led by the former Minister of Education, Ezekwesili, however said many components of the rescue plan would remain classified as they are security issues.

He lamented that it is disdainful that Nigeria which had spearheaded many regional and continental peace efforts has been unable to resolve and contain the incursions of Boko Haram on its own soil.

His words:”‎I think you will agree that the present government takes the issue very seriously. Within a week of being sworn in, I visited Niger, Chad and would have visited Cameroon but for the invitation of the G7 to go to Germany and listen to them.

“I’m very impressed with the leadership of this important group (G7) other than the United Nations itself, are very concern about the security in Nigeria led by abduction of the Chibok girls by the terrorists.

“When the terrorists announced ‎their loyalty to ISIS, the whole attention again was brought squarely to Nigeria. And now, we are rated with Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria‎, this is very unfortunate.

“After Ramadan, I will visit Cameroon to see the President there and then Benin Republic. But the efforts we have been making, some we will not disclose publicly ‎because it will not be consistent with security.

“But I assure you that under the Lake Chad Basin Commission, the military have met, the ministers of defence have met, we the presidents have met here in Abuja except the President of Cameroon who was represented his Minister of Defence.

“Strategies and tactics have been drawn, multinational taskforce has been put in place more or else with headquarters in N’djamena with a Nigerian General as Commander. And then the troops delegated by each of the countries are to be put in place by the end of the month. And Nigeria, I assure you, will do its best because we as I said are the battle ground and we are being helped by our neigbours.”

In a 13-point demands of the BBOG, Ezekwesili urged the Federal Government to spare no resources in urgently rescuing the Chibok girls and demanded an apology from the government for “the failure of governance that led to the abduction.”

She also asked the government to: “Immediately set up a structured feedback and communication system that is composed of the Federal and Borno State Governments through designated security and ministerial authorities, the parents of the abducted girls, the Chibok (KADA) community, and citizens, through the #BringBackOurGirlsgroup.

It was the first time the pressure group had received audience from the nation’s President after several failed moves during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
