BEVERLY HILLS, July 04, (THEWILL) –  Borno State residents Saturday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to change his anti-terror strategy and take the battle against Boko Haram to the doorsteps of the insurgents.

The call came amid fears occasioned by the renewed push by the insurgents as well as their continued onslaughts on villages and towns in the state.

They maintained that the military can no longer be on the defensive by waiting for the insurgents to strike before reacting.

‎THEWILL recalls that Zabarmari ward in Jere local government area of the state was attacked by the insurgents on Friday where seven people were killed.

The people therefore called on President Buhari and the military to take the war to the terrorists' hideout and stop being on the defensive.

A local resident, Alhaji Yusuf Zabarmari, told Governor Kashim Shettima who visited the town that Buhari “has to be proactive, otherwise Boko Haram will continue to unleash mayhem on innocent citizen.”

According to him, the insurgents are not ready for peace , saying “we know they are presently in Koshebe seven kilometres away from here (Zabarmari) and if the military didn't carry the war to them, they will certainly come back and destroy the whole village.”

He said “we have been telling the military that these insurgents are regrouping in Koshebe just some seven kilometres away from Zabarmari but the military refuse to go after them to their hideouts, until when they attack our village.

“Our military cannot continue to be on the defensive all the time, Buhari should change his strategy if the war against terrorism must be won.”
