Eket People Commend Governor Udom Emmanuel on Eket/Ibeno Road

By Essien Ndueso

His Excellency Udom Gabriel Emmanuel

Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State

Office of the Governor

Uyo

Akwa Ibom State.

June 28, 2015.

Your Excellency,

THANK YOU MESSAGE FROM EKID PEOPLE

On behalf of the entire Eket people, I write to thank you on the news story that you have directed that work should resume tomorrow on the abandoned Eket-Ibeno Road.

Your pragmatic directive, which is in the right direction is a highly welcomed development in view of the economic importance of the road to the entire Akwa Ibom and Nigerian people, considering the oil exploration activities of Exxon-Mobil Company in the area.

It has also come to the notice of the Eket people that you have ordered the beautification of the Urua Offiong Etok area of Eket. The people are equally grateful for this.

May I use the intrumentality of this letter to appeal to you to extend the same kind directive on the Eket-Etinan Road, commenced at the same time with the Eket-Ibeno Road, which is now a dead trap, following its abandonment.

We expect that as advised by your predecessor, Senator Akpabio, the contractor currently handling the 3-Star hotel in Ikot Ekpene, on completion of that hotel, will move to Eket to commence and complete work on the long abandoned Qua River Hotel.

We also expect that you would in due course order the reactivation of the abandoned Qua Steel Mill and Oil Palm Estates in the area in order to stem the tide of unemployment and youth restiveness in the Local Government Area.

Once more thank you and God bless you.

(Signed)

Prof Asindi Andrew Asindi

National President-Eket Peoples Union.
