BEVERLY HILLS, June 25 (THEWILL) – The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki has named Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC, Borno) and Senator Bala Ibn Na'Alla (APC, Kebbi) as Senate Leader and Deputy Senate Leader respectively, in defiance to his political party's advise to name Senators Ahmed Lawan and George Akume for the positions.

He also named Senator Francis Alimikhena (APC, Edo) as the Deputy Chief Whip and Senator Olushola Adeyeye (APC, Osun) as Senate Chief Whip.

The nominations sharply divided senators of the party, which has the majority at the senate.

The tension forced the Senate President to adjourn proceedings till July 21st.
