‎Dr. Angela Uwakwem: Why Do They Want Her Head?

By Ambrose Nwaogwugwu

There is a usual practice in this country that is fast becoming a norm and a way of life- in Nigeria, the aggressors because of high sources of ill-gotten wealth and influence poses as victims while the real victims dies in obscuring solitude, at some instances, the real victims are lyched by ignorant mobs because the influential people on the society; having wealth and power and buying off all available spaces at any available given media outlets, the uninformed people are therefore being brainwashed and conditioned to see their oppressive emperors as the lords of saving graces while the innocent victims are set as aggressive emperors. It's now very common.

"Being a victim is supposed to set you free" says one quote but the reverse is the case in our present day society due to manipulation of the people's beliefs and psychs in high places.

That is exactly the case and story of this woman, Dr. Mrs. Angela Uwakwem, the MD of the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC) Owerri. The highly placed oppressive and havoc wrecking emperors are definitely not happy with her. They have set her as the aggressor while in the real sense of sanity, she is the real victim being haunted by the malevolent cabals in the system.

I do not know anything, personally, about this woman neither have I had any close encounter with her. If not for her portraits been flung everywhere in the media, I may not be able to recognise her in person if I should meet her in a crowd of people or even worse, I may walk past her without knowing that she maybe the one. That is to tell how much unknown she is to me. Though, even not knowing her personally, I only know her with her various reformative and transforming works she has carried out at FMC Owerri, within the time she has spent at the federal health institution. Her great works and transformations at FMC Owerri is so glaring for any one without sense of grudge to see.

For some time now, she has been on the news for reasons some malicious characters are yet to satisfactorily tell or give convincing account of.

True to myself and principles, I certainly do not follow the crowds knowing full well that they're bunch of ignorants who are twisted and driven by the sentiments of accrued conditions emanating from the faux victims who are really the oppressive emperors and mischievous cabals but because of the various media outlets at their beck and call and smelling wealth.

When the agents of these cabals started their misleading antics of deceits, I knew that for sure, something was really up in the offing.

As their blackmail against this great woman failed to achieve its expected result, they went on rampage and have gone on the prowl to unleash their deadliest of assaults.

The governor of Imo state, Chief Rochas Okorocha even came to the rescue to intermediate but they gave as their sole demand and panacea to back off, according to a local paper report, if the head of the woman is not sacrificed- that is, the total departure of the current 'near excellent' service delivery status been enjoyed in the institution and the return of the old dungeonous orders of impunity, wickedness and man inhumanity to man and brazen corruption.

Why do they want her head? An innocent observer would want to ask?

The deep seated evil called corruption has eaten into every fabric of our national lives, corruption in the public and private sectors, in high and low places, sadly, corruption now unceremoniously pose as a way of life in the country where any attempt to get it stopped would be SERIOUSLY be met with stiff opposition.

There are these well-but-ill positioned individuals who benefits at the expense of poor Nigerians. There are those who fights with their last life line to make sure that no improvement is made in the system - they benefits from the many rotten systems and ills of the society: they're the evil and treacherous cabals- the fake victims.

Any sane and rationale fellow who finds his or her way to FMC Owerri will without equivocation attest to the good transformation works of this witch-hunted perfomer woman MD; From the old sluggish way of service delivery to the nonchalant attitudes of the health personnel and the life threatening corrupt practices in the Pharmacy departments, where genuine drugs are sold to private hospitals by the cabals but sell adulterated and fake drugs to poor patients, received total and thorough transformation since Dr. Angela Uwakwem took over the helm of affairs of FMC Owerri.

Corruption as a deadly monster is not ready to give up easily, it is fully ready to fight back.

The current debacle at FMC Owerri is the first hand case of 'corruption fighting back'.

The cabals are therefore, not pleased and happy with her and are ready not to leave any stone unturned in the infamous 'corruption fightbacks'.

Someone once wrote that "the struggle for the soul of Nigeria is not going to be a tea party because corruption will fight back with lethal weapons that can be found anywhere."

He continued that "corruption in Nigeria is a hydra-headed monster that will seek to consume anybody who dares to confront it or stands on its way."

He insisted that "if you fight corruption in Nigeria with a single gun it will fire back with a million AK-47, 5000 armoured tanks, 50,000 grenades, 5000 rocket launchers etc. in addition to a billion blatant lies".

There is no type of lies that have not been told against this woman by those who thinks she is standing on the way of their heinous activities against humanity which they benefits from. No one can say that she has been indicted for any wrongdoing, misappropriation of funds, incompetence or embezzlement. Funny enough, her traducers agrees that she is a very competent health worker and very efficient in her managerial works- many of those sponsored against her do not have any string of idea about why she should be stopped.

The only crime of Dr. Uwakwem is that she is only trying to improve a more rotten system than the way she met it. She is enthroning merits, transparency, efficient service delivery and accountability as against the opposite which was the order of the day before she came.

There seems also that there are this cabals with phobia for successful women, they're dangerously pinched whenever the story of a successful woman is told.

This set of shameless and unpropitous cliques are always on the lookout for women who had distinguished themselves at their various fields of carriers to witch-hunt. They tried it with madam Stella Odua, Dezziani Allison Maduekwe, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, and now Dr. Angela Uwakwem.

Is it because 'they are women'? A respondent asked.

In saner progressive climes, women like this who distinguished themselves through hardwork and performance are celebrated but sadly, in our society, they tend to blackmail them to silence and obscurity.

If not for phobia against successful women, why would an emerging excellent woman like Mrs Uwakwem be haunted?

A visit to FMC Owerri will eloquently bear her a witness of greatness and passmark of outstanding performance and total observance of professionalism in carrying out medical services- from infrastructural development at the institution to the core medicals and modernised equipments.

If fight against corruption should be allowed to thrive in the country, people like Dr. Angela Uwakwem supposed to be encouraged for standing against this evil wind that blows no one any good.

A fight against this woman is a fight against innovation, a fight against successful women, a fight against transparency and a fatal lethal fight against making our system to work.
