Cuban Ambassador To Sierra Leone Boasts His Country’s National Interests In Africa.
The Cuban Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Antonio Luis Pubillons Izaguirre has for the third time, on 11th June, 2015 paid a solidarity visit to the international headquarters of the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity at 53 Caritas Drive, Allentown, Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The objective of the visit was to thank volunteers of the Foundation for their solidarity and support for Cuba, especially for leading the African civil society movement in the campaign for the immediate and unconditional the removal of the US blockade and other unfriendly policies against the Cuban people.
The motivating slogan a visitor could hear upon arrival at the Foundation headquarters is that: “Chavistas! Chavismos! We are all Chavezs! These very inspiring slogans remind visitors of the good works started by Commandant Hugo Chavez and which legacy the Foundation is dedicated to defend and preserve, uncompromisingly. And the visiting ambassador has the history of the Foundation and has the confidence that the Foundation will deliver.
Ambassador Antonio had the opportunity to listen to volunteers of the Foundation and was reassured of the Foundation’s continued solidarity with Cuba in particular, and Latin America and the Caribbean generally. The International Executive Director of the Foundation, Alimamy Bakarr Sankoh briefed the Ambassador on the various activities of the Foundation, which was founded in 2007 by a group of conscious and forward-looking Africans from various nationalities across Africa.
The Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity is active in such areas as agriculture productivity for food security and rural community development; human rights and environmental affairs protection; drug, HIV, Ebola prevention, treatment and care; as well as education and job skills training and low-income generating project; and more.
On his part, Ambassador Antonio expressed his profound appreciation for the Foundation’s humanitarian good works and unflinching solidarity with the people of Latin America and the Caribbean. He commended the Foundation for the courage, dedication and volunteerism; and urged all members of the Foundation to continue the good work.
Ambassador Antonio went further to intimate members of the Foundation about events in Latin America, particularly on the re-opening of embassies between his country and the United States of America and the latter’s gradual easing of sanctions and embargo against the Cuban people. The good Ambassador assured the Foundation’s of Cuba’s unstopped support for the people of Africa.
Concluding, the Foundation’s International Executive Director, Alimamy Bakarr Sankoh thanked the charismatic Ambassador for presenting the case of his country to Africa in a just, honest and for furthering Cuba’s national interests abroad.
